Karen McCoy, 's lands grootste bankrover, wordt na zes jaar vrijgelaten uit de gevangenis. Ze wil een nieuw leven beginnen en op het rechte pad blijven. Ze kan echter geen werk vinden want niemand wil een ex-gedetineerde in dienst nemen. Daarnaast is het haar vurige wens herenigd te worden met haar negenjarige zoontje. Haar ex-man heeft hem echter verteld dat zij dood is. Dan ontmoet ze J.T. Barker, die onder één hoedje speelt met Schmidt, een hoge baas in criminele kringen. Schmidt en Karen zijn oude bekenden van elkaar. Zij weigerde in het verleden met hem te werken en ging ook niet in op zijn romantische avances. Hij nam hierop wraak en liet haar laatste bankoverval mislukken, waardoor zij werd betrapt. Ze ontvoeren haar zoontje en zo dwingt Schmidt Karen alsnog voor hem te werken...
